WELCOME!

We are so excited to announce our first partner school in Buffalo -
Charter School of Inquiry!

Charter School of Inquiry (CSI) is a K - 6th grade public charter school. The school uses inquiry to drive curriculum. This school is unique in that it promotes a safe and supportive community for children and families by infusing heritage and culture of people of African descent, embracing the concept of Ubuntu and promoting academic growth through challenging student-led investigations.

Ubuntu, which is literally translated as "I am because we are," is an ancient African philosophy that emphasizes togetherness and the interconnectedness inherent to each of our existence. Ubuntu is the driving principle behind CSI - emphasizing how collectivism benefits each individual and the group as a whole.

When our board had a chance to visit CSI, we were impressed with all they have accomplished. In the coming weeks, we will introduce you to this school and tell you more about the adventures we are planning.

And of course, we will still maintain our relationship with Neighborhood House Charter School, sending kids in Boston on adventures every year!

Mission

We send students on adventures, regardless of financial need.

The Nate Howe Adventure Fund provides full scholarships for students to participate in the overnight camps and learning trips. Through these trips, students are able to gain an education not found in the classroom.

“She encouraged people that were having trouble on the rock wall. We’ve gone to school together for two years, but she was so nice on the trip and we had a lot of fun together!”
